Bang Tao area guide for buyers
Phuket's most popular area with foreign buyers — what it's like to live and invest in Bang Tao, and what to watch out for.
Bang Tao is a long beach on Phuket’s north-west coast, in Choeng Thale subdistrict. Behind it is Laguna Phuket, a large resort area of hotels, golf and residences around former tin-mining lagoons.
Daily life. Boat Avenue and Porto de Phuket are the main places for shopping, cafés and restaurants, with Villa Market and Lotus’s supermarkets nearby. There is a Bangkok Hospital clinic in Bang Tao, and international schools in the wider area draw families who live here year-round.
Getting around. The airport is to the north, and Surin and Kamala are a short drive south.
What this means for buyers and investors
Why it’s popular. Bang Tao combines a long beach, international services and an established foreign community. It is one of the easiest places on the island to rent out and to resell.
The catch: supply. Many new condo projects are completing here between 2025 and 2028. Rental competition is real, so the specific unit — view, floor, size and the quality of the rental programme — matters more than the address.
What’s next. ICONPHUKET, due in 2029 in neighbouring Si Sunthon, adds a major leisure destination nearby and supports long-term demand from residents, not only tourists.
